Text source: http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks01/0100251h.html (please only read from this text!)The fourth in the "Anne" series, Anne of Windy Poplars takes place when Gilbert leaves for medical school, and Anne accepts the job of principal at Summerside High School. Anne is sure she'll have a lovely time staying with the widows Aunt Kate and Aunt Chatty, and their outspoken housemaid Rebecca Dew, but it soon becomes apparent that the Pringles, Summerside's "Royal Family", are determined otherwise. Can Anne make friends with the Pringles and enjoy a peaceful stay in Summerside? Or will she return to Avonlea defeated?
Note: Anne of Windy Poplars was also published in the UK as Anne of Windy Willows. The novel was published years after most of the other Anne books and is therefore still under copyright in the USA.
