Re: Disclaimer

But of course, nothing prevents Legamus to have its own "spirit". I just feel it's weird to be part of something that is breaking with the absolute-free, absolute-share spirit of Librivox. I think Legamus can have the spirit of being as diverse as our members and their countries/languages...

Re: Solo [ENGLISH] The Prophet by Khalil Gibran-neb

Aha, I just remembered MCs should back up all files... I wanted to buy a Time Capsule to have enough space, but it turns out the government has cut down so much on cultural things, that my husband's full time job as a music teacher suddenly has become a half time job... I have space for some...

Indeed, these links expire quickly. They want downloaders to actually visit their website, and making such temporary links prevents deeplinking.

Re: Disclaimer

Do we want this in English only on all catalog pages or have it in the language of the recording? I would suggest: let's start with English, and we can do translations later on (when more volunteers will be available for translation of webpages on Legamus). I suggest that the licence e.g. CC0 or CC...

Re: Solo [ENGLISH] The Prophet by Khalil Gibran-neb

All done, but I won't upload until the disclaimer/outro thing is settled. :) EDIT: Oh, I see that Andy has uploaded his, so I will too. Ruth It is always possible to change the intro/outro later on. The poll that I set up lately, is already giving some clues, but let's have it run until 14 days aft...

Re: Earl Derr Biggers - The Chinese Parrot

Welcome AshleighJane :) The layout is still under discussion, but a very simple list is this one: Solo/Group Book Title: Author: Dates of birth and death of author: Language: Translator: Dates of birth and death of translator: Date of first publication: Number of sections the project will have: Does...

Re: File hosting, distribution and storage

Having all basic stuff for legamus.eu in one country sounds logic and reasonable to me; France seems the best candidate. Re. the advice of HP, let's stay away from Germany ... Hopefully we'll get a good and stable solution for file storage in the future. Until now I think we can do with European hos...

Up to now, 11 people voted. Could those who haven't done yet, do so when they see this e.g. in the active topics list? Thanks :) Discussion can (and does) take place in the several other development topics.

What do you think about ...

... a poll to get more clarity (and hopefully decisions :)) on some things we talked about lately? Well, here it is. We might however need more polls to figure everything out

This poll will close 2 weeks from now.

Re: Where can we find book texts to read for legamus.eu?

When looking for a text on Chanukkah, I came across this German site http://www.judaica-frankfurt.de/ with Jewish literature until 1933. They have novels and poems, too. Not everything is PD, so one needs to check. Thanks, I added it to the list in the first post! And of course: welcome over here! :)

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on

It was on eBay, I believe, but I don't know whether they picked it up from that or direct from the site. It was before my time. These copyright enforcement people do web searches as a matter of course, and send out cease and desist letters all over the place. OK, so it would not really help us so m...

Re: Domain name

it would be up to us to take advantage of the six years of LV existence to possibly re-consider some things and experiment (with the danger of getting into heated discussions... though I don't see this as a big danger if we continue to be such a nice community 8-) ) I don't see such a danger either...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on

I agree, Ruthie, we should not step over this all too easily. Even if the law would be at our side, we could still be drawn into court and proving that we are not doing anything illegal, does cost money ... Why did that happen; was it just because it was free to download (although not allowed outsid...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on

The other side of the coin is that, if we use this restriction for very popular books that are not PD in the US, we might not get the same hassle with those as when some non-US commercial party would make big money on it and thus catch the attention of some US commercial party who does not like tha...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on

It would already be "revolutionary" if we'd slacken the rules for solo projects by letting the soloist choose the license (s)he wants, be it CC-0 or BY-NC-SA. Not sure about the most restrictive -ND though, maybe that'll better be avoided. What do you think? * CC (regardless of which rest...
