Hi Algy,

I'll attempt Section 16) THE OLD ADAM (1934) please.

Has a disclaimer been formatted? I cruised the thread and the first post but might have missed it.

Section 16 is yours.

Don't worry about the disclaimer - I will fix this sometime before cataloging happens.

Oops I noticed after posting 14 an inappropriate pronunciation of 'bowed'

Shall I fix and repost or wait till you've pl'd AshleighJane?

Thanks Cathy

I will probably take over the PLing, as AshleighJane seems to have gone AWOL.

I will let you know about the "mispronounciation" - presumptuous though it may seem for an Australian to be commenting on the pronunciations of other English speakers!

Thanks Algy. It is quite certain I've pronounced it incorrectly for the context in question. I say it as one does to describe the posture you're supposed to take when addressing the Queen when, in fact, I should be saying it like one referring to a bow and arrow.

But I'll await your overall verdict on the section, Algy.

Here is section 18. Runs 54:32. Gee, I hope you don't have a policy about maximum section lengths ... :?

One section is still up for grabs:

21) THE WITCH A LA MODE (6263 words)

Anyone eager to help complete this collection?

Thanks Cathy

You certainly don't let the grass grow under your feet!

I believe the maximum allowable section length is the same as at Librivox ie. about 78 minutes.

I hope to catch up with the remaining PLing over the weekend.

By the way, I believe Churchill's modest little person was Clement Atlee, who he also described as a "sheep in sheep's clothing." Ah, what was happened to political repartee! Although Paul Keating, Australian prime minister from 1992 to 1996 did describe one opposition leader as "a shiver looking for a spine to run up." Of another opposition leader he said: "The souffle doesn't rise twice."

Mortal Coil PL

Section 14 notes:

0:29
her young, blossom-fresh face was lifted.
I heard
her young bosom-like face was lifted.

1:14
, and from the great, bowed, whitewashed ceiling.
"bowed" should be pronounced to rhyme with "toad"

1:49
, and opposite was the door on which hung a military cloak.
I heard
, and opposite was the door on which hung a military coat.

Section 15 - PL OK.

Sensational readings! :D
