Catalog Blog - Translation needed

Post by Hokuspokus »

I have written a small text for the About page of our Catalog Blog. https://legamus.wordpress.com/about/

Would be great if we could have about the same in other languages, too. The text is along these lines:
Legamus (lat = lets read together) makes free audio books that are public domain in Europe. Public Domain = copyright expires, in EU and many other place 70 Years after death of author.
(Link to list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... ght_length )

We are all volunteers, you can volunteer, too, only need computer, microphone and free software. (Link to Audacity) More information in the forums (link to forum).

Books published before 1923 are recorded at LibriVox, can be downloaded there. (Link to LV main page and catalog)

The main page of the blog should contain mainly a list of our recordings, I suggest. We can work on that when there are completed projects.

English version:

Code: Select all

Legamus! (<em>Latin</em>: let's read together!) makes free audio books from texts that are in the Public Domain in Europe. In this context, Public Domain means that copyright has expired on the original text. In Europe and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries%27_copyright_length" target="blank">many other parts of the world</a>, copyright protection expires 70 years after the author's death.

Legamus readers are all volunteers, and you can volunteer too! All you need is a computer, an internet connection, a microphone and some <a href="http://audacity.sourceforge.net/" target="blank">free software</a>. You can find more information in our <a href="http://legamus.eu/forum/index.php" target="blank">forums</a>.

Legamus only records texts that were published in or after 1923. These texts are still protected by copyright in the USA. Texts published before this date are in the Public Domain in the USA and are recorded by <a href="http://librivox.org" target="blank">LibriVox.org</a>. You can download them from the <a href="http://catalog.librivox.org" target="blank">LibriVox catalogue</a>. Please note that all LibriVox recordings are in the Public Domain in the USA, but may still be protected by copyright in other countries.

I've just posted the French one in WP. Any chance we could make the language in there English? I understand the German, and so will Kat, I guess, but I'm quite sure Leni will be lost.

Oh, and I've changed the links so that the English version goes to the English link of sourceforge, and the French one to the French. And also changed the code so that all links open in new windows (at least I hope).

Legamus!
