Notifications are kind of difficult... for me they work! And I had hope that by now they also work for others.

I modified the standard forum so that "Notify me upon replies" (option in your Preferences) is set to "yes" by default. For you, it is indeed set to "yes". But I thought that only means you get a notification when a thread you started gets a reply.

On LibriVox, if you post in such a "general thread", would you expect to get an e-mail on a reply? Then I have to have a closer look why it's not happening here. On the other hand, you can also explicitly "subscribe" to topics or read newsfeeds, if you like that.

Usually on larger forums I do have switched it of because there it can get messy and I don't find anything.

This time it worked :) And I guess here it is a good idea to leave it switched on :)

Well,, I found you!!
Now i can upload Mark Twain's "Letters From the Earth" which won't enter the US Public Domain world until 2057!!!!! Long after I am gone! Mark Twain died in 1910 but "Letters" wasn't first published until about 1962!

So...does this work like Librivox?
Do I propose a project...get assigned an MC and a reader?

I admit, I haven't searched through your discussions yet...it's probably all VERY clear...but I'm just so excited that there will now be a home for "Letters From the Earth"... One of MT's most important works!!!

Welcome John!

Yes, it works exactly like Librivox, only the "Magic Windows" are different

Well, it is still not public domain for you if you live in the USA. I'm not sure how safe this would be for you.

edit: Oh, you mean to suggest this for someone else to read?

well....that would be fine!! It IS one of Mark Twain's greatest works, from the point of view of questioning religious dictates, etc.

But I'm recording it myself...so that my descendants can make it available to the world in 2057!! :-(

Hi everyone, I came over here from LV so I could record a book that is PD in Canada, but not the USA (surprising, I know!) The Ancient Highway but I guess I have to have a first post, so I thought I would announce my presence :D And was hoping for a little direction as to how to start. How to upload is my first question, I think I understand the MW, but we'll see when I use it!

Welcome to Legamus :)

Legamus works more or less like librivox. We have a template generator, an uploader [Username & PW can be provided via PM] and a Magic Window [PW is provided by whoever MCs your project].

The main difference for solo projects is, that you may choose your own creative common license. Here is an attempt at coming up with wordings for the disclaimer for different types of licenses.

Technical specs for recordings are the same and the process as well. :)

Feel free to ask any questions you might still have.

PS: Yours was the first post I was able to approve. :D

Hi :)
We use either this uploader http://legamus.eu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=664 or upload to ge.tt
You'll find our template in the Lanuch Pad section. One difference compared to LV is that here you can choose your license if you're a soloist.

Thanks for the welcome and the links :)

Will my MC give me a password for the uploader? I think I'm getting things figured out so far, it is very much like Librivox! I am exited to be a part of this little community as well!

Hello everyone!
Isabelle from France here. I also come from Librivox - and am here to record texts that are PD in Europe, although not yet in the US.
I am looking forward to creating projects with you all here. :)

Hello! I've come across from Librivox because I've found a book I just *have* to record on Project Gutenberg Australia which was published in 1926 by LM Montgomery (died 1942, so she's safe for all Life+70 countries!)

Cheers, and G'day from Down Under!
