The source text linked in the opening post is no longer available. It looks that now each story has it's own link.
EDIT: I modified the opening post adding a link to the PG Australia search site.

Thank you, Piotre.

Could you please add the direct link to each recorded text into the notes filed in the MW? From there I can add the links to the catalog page.

No problem, Hokuspokus. :) I'll do it tomorrow.

Btw. it's either Piotr or Piotrek. :) No such thing as "Piotre" exists. I'm mentioning this because I've seen it on several occasions already on LV.

Oh, I'm sorry.

Actually, I wondered about that and looked around if I see it somewhere. Piotrek it will be then in future. I can always look how to spell that ;) :D

Juat a question, though. Where do you want me to stick the links? For the 1st part we still used the Google Docs MW (I haven't checked the later parts yet.) The listeners probably don't download their stories from there, but from the catalogue/blog, anyway, and I can't edit the blog entries. I can gather the PG links and stick them here and then you could paste them into an entry for each part.

In the Magic Window there is a column "notes" on the left side. I think this might be a good place. But you could as well keep a list in the first post. Just some place where I can easily copy them when I make the catalog page.

Or you could add the links to the list of texts in the second post. No need to add the links for the stories already recorded.

So you want a list of links only for this volume? There are only two stories so far :)

Well, I hope there will be more :)

Actually I only need the list, when we go to the catalog. Just thought I ask you now so you can do the list as the stories come in. It's much more work when you do them all in the end. But if you prefer that, that's also fine.

Here's Call of Cthulu http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks15/1500401h.html
There's no PG link for "Memory" or for many other stories. There's a link to http://freeread.com.au/@RGLibrary/HPLov ... craft.html but I haven't checked yet if there's any licence attached to stories there. (though seeing the "free" part of the URL, I'm assuming it's PD).
Look at http://gutenberg.net.au/plusfifty-a-m.html#letterL to see what I mean.

Hi
How about you just catalogue the 2 stories we have so far as vol. 4? Honestly, I'm not interested in keeping the collection anymore especially as there is zero interest from potential readers.

Hi Piotr,

yes we could do this. But I would like to suggest, that we catalog The Call of Cthulhu only and put Memory into the Multi Short Works. The Cthulhu story is big enough to deserve it's own project and it would look nicer in the catalog. I'll contact Julia and Martin if they are OK with this.

If they're both OK with having to re-do the intro/outro, then I see no problem :)

Hi,

I've made the necessary changes to Cthulhu, and I've re-uploaded the three chapter files. Note that I used the same file names as last time; you might want to change these now for cataloguing purposes.

Hi Piotr,
Julia is OK with putting her recording into the Multi collection. The Cthulu story is in the process of being cataloged as a solo. I've already made the changes to the MW.
It's always sad when a project doesn't find readers, but I think with 3 vol. of Lovecraft stories already in the catalog our very small community and especially you as BC did a very good job. Thank you very much for your work! :D

Hi Martin,
I had a look at your files and prepared them for the catalog. I noticed that they all clipped, that the wave line hits the upper and lower border of the recording window. This does ugly things to your voice. Since it happens only a few times and only for fractions of a second the damage is not big and the listeners will not notice. But it would be better if you tried to avoid this in your future recordings.

Since this is a solo now, we need a summary for the catalog page. Could you write 3 or 4 sentences? Or what do you think about putting just this quotation from the first chapter in the catalog?
"My somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings"

A cover would be nice too. Wikipedia has a sketch from Lovecraft himself we could use.

Would you like to create a cover? Or if you want I could do one. Other than on LV I would show it to you before it goes to the catalog and you can ask me for changes or reject it completely. At Legamus we belief strongly that the soloist or BC should have the last word on the cover that represents the project.

Hi Hokuspokus,

I also noticed the slight clipping while adding the new intros last week. The problem isn't in the original recording, but in my output gain setting for mp3 export (which is saved with the file), so it would be fairly easy to fix by turning it down a little bit. But as you say, the events are few and so short that they can't be heard. I made these recordings nearly two years ago, so I can't remember why I cranked the output as high as I did, but I'd guess it was because I thought the overall result was worth it.

Whatever the case, I wanted to change these files as little as possible since they've already been PL-OK'd. The only changes are in the intros, and in the outro at the end of Chapter 3.

I've also seen HPL's artistic rendering of his monster, and I tend to agree with the blogger who wrote to a reader, "It’s worth noting that H. P. Lovecraft did his own sketch of the Cthulhu idol described in The Call of.... It ties up reasonably well with your image, but perhaps also demonstrates why Lovecraft didn’t illustrate his own publications."

But I've found several awesome images marked "Free to modify, share, and use," so I don't think making a suitable cover (with due attribution, of course) will be a problem. I'll also hunt down a PD blurb somewhere. I'll get back to you with that in the next day or two.

Cheers,
Martin
