aha, I finally found one that is on Gallica but not on PG:

I will read Dagobert et Saint-Eloi. It apparently explains the real story behind the famous song.

Title of the book : Les miettes de l'histoire : récits historiques du pays de France / Maurice Thiéry
Author : Thiéry, Maurice (1862-1935)

Date of publication : 1924

I found a little poem, too. By one of my favourite authors, Joseph Roth, in German: "Bürgerliche Kultur"
http://gutenberg.spiegel.de/buch/4262/47

As there is not much going on yet, I'm taking over as an MC for this project.

Vitkor, since you're the only other who understands French around here, will you PL mine?

Sure, I feel honoured! The reason why I never propose to PL is that I will be slow. My only time is in the train to/from work (RER B). If that's OK with you, it will be my pleasure!

Well, as long as you listen before the collection is full, that's fine :) And still better slow PL than no PL

The story is only 2 pages, I'd guess around 5 minutes or so. That would fit with walking to the train maybe?
Of course, I'll be happy to PL yours if needed (I actually realised I understand German audiobooks quite well, but I have to determine whether it is because of the one reader I'm PLing for or because I actually do remember more than I thought, so I need another German-speaking subject )

Here is a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926):

Solang du Selbstgeworfnes fängst

Very nicely read!

PL notes [de]: Ich hab nur einen kleinen Dreher bemerkt, den Rilke macht und Du nicht: beim zweiten Mal liest Du "Kraft und Mut" statt "Mut und Kraft".

Thank you, Viktor.
I think I will leave it as it is. On LV we don't point out mistakes that don't change the meaning. With a poem it's a bit trickier. Probably I would have mentioned it if I happened to read the text along, but it's up to the reader to fix it or not.

Now you are the BC here and we don't need to do things the way LV does. We can find our own rules. What do you say?

Sure you can leave it as is! That's up to you. I know it wasn't a very significant change and hesitated before mentioning it at all, but with a poem I thought you'd want me to ;)

Not sure whether I can make a general rule out of that... maybe: The more experienced a reader is, the more likely she should be allowed to decide about such details herself? (At least for "short work collections"!)

Hi,
I do hope I did this correctly!

Hello Noel,

welcome here and thanks for your recording. All fine, I could retrieve it.

While Kipling certainly is PD for life+70, it looks like this story has been published already 1890? Then it should be OK for LibriVox, too.

We don't try to compete with LibriVox, but rather to complement it. So if it's OK for LV, I would encourage you to publish it there :)

Hi Viktor,
Noel submitted this recording to the LV short works collection but there were some doubts if this is really the text from 1890 or some later edition with changes in the text and new US copyright.
LV won't take it without prove that it's identical with the 1890 text. Therefore I suggested to submit it here when no prove can be found.

Hi Victor,
Thanks for confirming all was well with my posting. As Hokuspokus mentioned, I did submit this to LV but the text is from the reprint of 1926. I have been in contact with someone who has seen both and he told me that there were no changes, but without proof LV can not take it and so far I have not been able to find a copy of the 1890 magazine where it was first published.

Hello Noel,
sorry, I didn't know that LV/Hokuspokus already sent you here. Then of course everything is perfect. I'll update the MW.
Thanks, Viktor.
