Solo [SE] Dantes Vita Nuova in Swedish - vik

Post by humlebo » Fri 1. Mar 2013, 11:17

I have just started reading/recording Dantes Vita Nuova in Swedish. It was published 1928.

What do you say as introduction to every recording? I have so far said "This is a librivox recording...etc" because I thought I should do it for Librivox. Do we say "This is a Legamus recording....etc" ?

Hello Humlebo and welcome to Legamus, great to have you here!

The "disclaimer" in the beginning depends on the license you choose. As a soloist, unlike at LibriVox, you do have a choice here. We encourage CC0, which is a Creative Commons license very similar to the concept of public domain, but you could also choose (for example) CC BY-SA. English disclaimers are here. If you look at other projects, they mention "Legamus" in the beginning and at the end.

And of course, as your reading is in Swedish, feel free to say all that in Swedish!

Finally, a couple of questions for getting this project started:
Do you already have a PL in mind? Will you add some more links to the "first post" - in particular, a link to the Swedish text you're reading? And do you mind if I merge these two forum topics?

Thanks ! What is PL?
No I don't mind..
I haven't figured out how to add a soundbite before something else i Audacity yet, but I will find out :-) Maybe someone here knows. Right now I record around 15 minutes per file, mostly because Dante is not that easy and fluent in Swedish...

PL is prooflistener! Sorry to immediately use LibriVox acronyms.

Just asking because it might take some time to find someone here who reads Swedish.

Where do I post a search warrant for such a proof-reader? And will such a one charge me for the job? Or can I get one myself here in Sundsvall, Sweden?

Hi

A proof-listener is a volunteer like all of us, who listens to recordings checking them for technical problems or errors. Finding a Swedish-speaking PLer on Legamus may be problematic, as we are a small community, but you can:
a) start a thread on LibriVox (you have an account there, right?) in the "Other Projects" area saying that you search for a proof-listener
b) ask somebody you know to register here; they can then listen to your recordings and post feedback

Hope that helps :)

Great! It's not your duty to find a PL, but with no other Swedish speaker here (that I know of), you're in the best position of us ;)

Reading this post of yours, I understand you found a PL? Great!

I move this thread to Readers Found. For uploading your files, you can use our own uploader. I'll send you a private message (PM) in the forum with the access data. In case that does not work, there is also http://ge.tt

Hello Humlebo,

I've seen some uploads happening. Is there anything I can do now?

Usually, this is how it works - we assume reader and prooflistener (PL) are not at the same place:
* Reader reads one or more sections, uploads them, and posts the download links here in the forum
* PL downloads, checks, and says: "PL OK" or writes about problems (s)he found.
* If PL OK => repeat for next sections
* If not => reader uploads a new version of the section in question, new round of prooflistening

Don't worry about the download links if you do not have them any more - I do have them!

But if your PL is sitting right next to you, of course you can just upload the prooflistened files. Recently, we did have such a case here.

So, are the files you uploaded "ready for publication", "in need of prooflistening", or something else? :)
