Re: File hosting, distribution and storage

Good news from http://ge.tt - if one has a free account there, they give you now 2 or 3 GB and the files do not expire. As long as we do not have tons of recordings, this looks very good.

Re: COMPLETE Solo [POLISH] Bolesław Prus- Widziadła - hok

And I uploaded it to ge.tt, they have a nice English interface, and one can either download the file or listen directly. (Free.fr is still an excellent site for temporary files or French recordings.)

Re: COMPLETE Solo [POLISH] Bolesław Prus- Widziadła - hok

Congratulations from me as well! Thanks Piotr and everyone involved!

I replaced the blog link with this nicer version
http://legamus.eu/link/Boleslaw_Prus-Widziadla
that I can keep up-to-date when the freehoster changes.

Re: Polish

Given that it was published posthumously, I assume that IT IS important in that case. I imagine that the "death+" rule becomes "publication+" for such a piece of writing? That depends on the country. In some European countries, maybe most of them, a posthumous work which is publ...

Re: The symbolist Movement in Literature, Symons 1919

Published (in the better version) in 1919 => that's before 1923, so it should be on LibriVox. As the author died less than 70 years ago, it is even completely impossible for Legamus. ;) This work is not in the public domain in life+70 countries, only in the US and possibly in some (former) life+50 c...

Welcome Piotrek, and thanks for reading the short story! Just tell us when there is anything not working or otherwise in your way.

Yes, at some point we need better smileys, I think... for me, particularly this one :) looks more suffering or sighing than smiling!

Re: Solo [ENGLISH] The Prophet by Khalil Gibran-neb

Dear Ruth, with the idea of a 64kbps file, I do not want to create any hassle or delays. If you're happy with the 128 kbps version, should we just go ahead and publish that one? If later on you give us a 64 kbps file you're happy with, we can just replace the other one or add it as another possible ...

I'd say yes! Let's take everything we can get

If Piotr does not mind, we might put it into a suitable short story collection if we have one later. (Keeping all former links working, of course.)

OK, new users should now have their "Notify me upon replies by default" checked. For a newly registered test user, it worked. Existing users still have to tick that box themselves :)

"Forums" like "Readers Wanted" or "Readers Found" have a red icon - that's the feed for that particular forum. Left of the "Last post by..." line. There are more feeds: A global one for all posts, or for "active topics", or - when you're on a particu...

Re: Welcome everybody!

Just remember to check the box "notify me" at the bottom, it does not happen automatically like at LV. In your "User Control Panel" you can set "notify me at reply" to be checked by default. It's the tab "Board preferences", "Edit posting defaults",...

http://www.fileshare.pro/ is another candidate, this time from Romania. One has to wait 20 seconds before the download, but there are few ads and even a little audio player. Only one file at a time, though. Test

Re: File hosting, distribution and storage

While ge.tt and free.fr work fine, I occasionally look at other freehosters in case we need something else. Here is a huge list. One can sort it by date and thus stay up-to-date about "new" hosters. Many of them are small hosters (individual persons?) running the same ready-made script. ht...

Herzlich willkommen, Heike! Ich habe das Wort "mitstenographieren" bei zeno.org in die Suchmaske eingegeben, und als einziges Ergebnis kommt dieses Werk. Von 1927, also genau richtig hier :) http://www.zeno.org/Literatur/M/Tucholsky,+Kurt/Werke/1927/Man+sollte+mal+.+.+. Schöne Grüße, Viktor.

Re: First book ready-now what?

In some of the early threads, we agreed to try to offer the final MP3s with 64kbps. I think the idea was that it would be "good enough" and yet save bandwidth for servers and storage space for downloaders. Yet, recordings can be in a better quality, particularly when a normalisation step h...

Re: First book ready-now what?

OK, you'll tell me whether this is any good or not :) I was able to normalise a bit by amplifying both parts by 1.4 dB (in Audacity). Then I converted to a 64-kbps ABR (average bit rate) MP3 using LAME, and uploaded to ge.tt. Here's the result, once with individual files - to listen online at ge.tt ...

Re: First book ready-now what?

So this is the time for me / my future automatic system to take over? Normalisation (not needed for Ruth :) ), meta-data, converting down to 64 kbps as we discussed in the other thread?

What is the spot-check?

[RESOLVED] Forum: OpenID login

Unfortunately, OpenID is a bit neglected within phpBB. There is one plug-in which is not compatible with PHP 5.3. Recently, our hoster Tuxfamily updated their operating system to the current Debian version, which includes PHP 5.3  After I updated a library used by the OpenID plugin, it seems t...
